Learn Academies Trust

Admissions Policy consultation 2026-27

Introduction

Learn Academies Trust (Learn-AT) is the admissions authority for the following schools:

  • All Saints CE Primary School, South Wigston

  • Blaby Stokes CE Primary School

  • Bottesford CE Primary School

  • Church Langton CE Primary School

  • Great Bowden CE Academy

  • Hope Hamilton CE Primary School

  • Houghton-on-the-Hill CE Primary School

  • Husbands Bosworth CE Primary School

  • Lubenham All Saints CE Primary School

  • Market Harborough CE Academy

  • Meadowdale Primary School

  • Queniborough CE Primary School

  • Red Hill Field Primary School

  • Richard Hill CE Primary School

  • Ridgeway Primary Academy

  • St Andrew’s CE Primary School, North Kilworth

  • Scalford CE Primary School

  • South Kilworth CE Primary School

  • Thrussington CE Primary School

Four new schools joined the Trust in February 2024 and this consultation proposes that these schools to adopt Learn-AT’s admissions policy from 2026/27 to bring them into line with the other schools for which Learn-AT is the admissions authority. It is not possible to change admissions arrangements for these schools for 2025/26 because applications have already opened for this intake, so their current policies will continue to apply for this school year.

This consultation is about proposed changes to admissions arrangements from the 2026/27 school year in accordance with paragraph 1.45 of the School Admissions Code. Other than the changes outlined in this document, all other elements of each school’s admission arrangements will remain unchanged and no comments are invited on those. Please see our admission policy for further details on the process and procedures for new and mid-term admissions: https://www.learnat.uk/about-learn-at/admissions

The amended policy will operate for first-time entry from September 2026.  It will also apply to all mid-term admissions for the school year 2026/27 and for subsequent years until further notice.

Consultation Process

The consultation process is open from Tuesday 3rd December 2024 to Tuesday 30th January 2025.

If you would like to comment on the proposals, you must submit your response in writing during this period using our form at https://forms.office.com/e/p34Q5pHyp4.

Following the consultation, Learn-AT will consider any comments received and determine how to proceed.  The final admission arrangements will be determined by 28th February 2025 and published on the Trust and schools’ websites by 15th March 2025.

Part 1 of the policy applies to all schools:

Hope Hamilton CE Primary School

The proposed criteria for Hope Hamilton will vary slightly from the other schools in the Trust. The school has a huge diversity of culture. Having some practising Christians in each year group is helpful to role model and develop understanding of the Christian vision as lived out by the children and families. Hamilton is a very transitional community so Church criteria helps to ensure there is a Christian presence within the school at any time because the population is ever-changing. Church places support the very unusual working relationship between the church and school, including the recent successful application of the Growing Faith Learning Hub Grant with which the school are now recruiting a Church-School Link Practitioner to develop links between the children at church and those in the school for which it is helpful to have children who go to church. The church criteria is very strict and rigorously applied so not open to abuse. The amount of places is relatively small each year - around 10% which still leaves the largest groups as sibling and catchment.
